Tuesday Tip #8: Great Games for Writers

When the cashier saw the game in my hand, she said, "Are you a writer?" I laughed and said, "Yes! How did you know?" She replied with a smile, "It seems like writers and English majors are the only ones who buy that game."

The name of the game: Man Bites Dog. It's a card game in which the players are dealt a hand of word cards and then must arrange some (or all) of the cards into a logical, and often hilarious, news headline. It is a great way to stretch those writing muscles and get others in on the fun too!

Here are a few other games that are great for getting those creative juices flowing:

Cranium, a fun game that's like a mix of all the best. Trivia, word games, charades, even sculturing!

Taboo. You really have think creatively to get your teammates to guess the word.

Balderdash. Have fun inventing odd definitions for interesting words!

Have some fun and stretch those writing muscles!

I love playing word games. Another fun one I like is Scattergories. Have you played that one?

  3. Angie--yes, I actually have Scattergories. It's been a long time since I've played it, though.

Elise--word games like Scrabble are always a good idea too. I love Scrabble!

  5. Kelly--Man Bites Dog is a hoot. If you get it, I hope you let me know what you think of it.

I just noticed that I spelled sculpturing wrong in my post. Maybe I should get my daughter to proofread for me.
    :-)
