Itching

I wish NaNoWriMo was starting tomorrow. And here's why.

I started re-reading last year's (unfinished) NaNoWriMo book. Call me crazy. I just felt drawn to it after that lightbulb moment the other day. I haven't thought much about that book until recently, probably because I was so deep into Sharra's War.

As I was reading, I remembered why I got so far with it in the first place. Because it is good! Or potentially good. Maybe that's hopeful thinking, but as I read I thought, "Hmmm...I'd like to finish this. It's got potential!" That's a good thing, but I wonder if I will be able to put it down and start something new on November 1st.

But you know what? I put Sharra aside last year to do NaNoWriMo, and Sharra didn't suffer for it. So maybe it will be perfectly safe for me to work on last year's book until the madness begins. I'm itching to work on a novel, so I might as well work on the one I've got going already.

Anyone else planning on setting their current WIP aside to do NaNoWriMo?

  1. I wouldn't let Nano hold you back. It's there to motivate you, not restrict you!

  3. It's so hard to choose between all the ideas, isn't it? I've been focusing on revising and editing a couple of different ms's for the time being. I'm dying to start my next ms! You're right - November is just a little too far away!

  4. I've been going back and forth on this one. I thought I would. I won't. As it is now, I think I'll do a NaNo in January. That, I think, would fit my current schedule!

Yes, work on the one you have going!

  6. I've been considering putting my WIP aside for NaNoWriMo too. My reason is, it's been my WIP for three years. I need to finish it but I also need to start something new. My goal this year to is get an agent in 2010. I don't think I can do that wiht only one MS written. So, here's how I will decide. If I am finished with my current WIP draft by Nov, then I will use NaNoWriMo to do the revised draft. if I am not, then I will begin draft 1 for my next book, a YA.

  7. Hello - I decided to check out your blog after you commented on one of my posts. :)

And yes, I am setting aside my WIP for NaNoWriMo and picking out another outdated one that badly needs rewriting anyway. Besides, I didn't get very far and tons of stuff has changed.
